We live in a culture obsessed with completion. We like our books read, our projects wrapped up, and our spiritual arcs neatly tied with a tidy theological bow. But most of us are walking around with a life that feels glaringly unfinished—prayers that seem suspended in the rafters, healing that arrives by inches rather than miles, and questions that outnumber our answers.

I used to think faith meant striving to finish the architecture God started, bracing my shoulders against the weight of my own becoming.

Then came a Tuesday afternoon defined by interruption. The coffee had gone cold, the to-do list was mocking me from the kitchen counter, and an unexpected wave of heavy-heartedness rolled in out of nowhere. There was no dramatic cabin backdrop, no poetic quiet. Just the hum of the refrigerator, the gray light of a standard weekday, and a soul feeling entirely unequipped for the hour.

In that very ordinary, unpolished space, a quiet realization took root: God is not anxious about my unfinished edges.

True grit isn’t about white-knuckling your way to the finish line; it is the stubborn, daily choice to stay seated at the Potter’s table when the clay still feels formless and wet. Grace is the oxygen that floods the room when we finally stop apologizing for our mess and invite the Creator to keep working.

Your life doesn't need to look pristine for Him to inhabit it. The untidy corners, the stalled dreams, the fragments of a broken routine—they aren't evidence that God has left the building. They are the exact workshop where He is fashioning something eternal.

You don't have to have it all figured out today. You only have to trust the Hands that are shaping you in the middle of the unfinished.
