Isaiah 40:31 — “…shall renew their strength…”
If yesterday was about laying down the fight, today is about letting God pick up the strength.
We live in a culture that worships self‑reliance. Push harder. Dig deeper. Try again. “Find strength within yourself.”
But Scripture teaches the opposite.
Strength does not come from within. Strength comes from above.
Isaiah doesn’t say, “They shall renew their strength by effort.” He says, “They shall renew their strength”, because God is the One doing the renewing.
Renewal is not something you manufacture. It’s something you receive.
It’s a divine exchange:
- your exhaustion for His endurance
- your emptiness for His fullness
- your weakness for His power
- your limits for His limitless grace
You don’t earn renewal. You don’t deserve renewal. You don’t perform your way into renewal.
You simply come empty… and God fills.
The Apostle Paul said it this way:
“Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16
Day by day. Not once. Not occasionally. Not when you “feel spiritual.”
Daily renewal is the ongoing work of a God who refuses to let your strength run out.
But here’s the key:
Renewal only happens when you stop trying to be your own source.
You cannot be refilled while you’re still pretending you’re full. You cannot be strengthened while you’re still acting strong. You cannot be renewed while you’re still relying on yesterdays strength.
Today, let God refill what life has drained.
Let Him breathe into the places where you feel thin. Let Him pour into the places where you feel poured out. Let Him strengthen the places where you feel stretched.
You don’t have to power through. You don’t have to pretend. You don’t have to push.
Just receive.
Because renewal isn’t earned, it’s given.
