Isaiah 40:31 “…they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
By Thursday, the week has a way of revealing what kind of strength we truly have. Not the soaring strength of Monday’s eagles. Not the renewing strength of Tuesday’s quiet filling. Not even the lifting strength of Wednesday’s elevation.
Thursday is where strength becomes endurance.
It’s where faith meets the long stretch. It’s where trust meets the daily grind. It’s where renewal becomes motion.
Isaiah shifts the imagery here. No wings. No wind. No altitude.
Just running. Just walking. Just the ordinary steps that make up most of our lives.
And this is where many believers misunderstand the miracle.
We expect God to give us soaring strength for every situation. But most of life isn’t lived in the sky, it’s lived on the ground. In the routines. In the responsibilities. In the conversations. In the decisions. In the steps we take one after another.
God’s promise is not only that He lifts you… but that He keeps you going.
“…they shall run, and not be weary…”
Running speaks of the seasons where life moves fast, where demands stack, where responsibilities multiply, where you feel like you’re sprinting from one thing to the next. God says you can run without collapsing, not because you’re strong, but because He sustains your pace.
“…they shall walk, and not faint…”
Walking speaks of the slow seasons, the steady, quiet, sometimes monotonous stretches where nothing dramatic is happening, but faithfulness is required. God says you can walk without fainting, not because you’re tireless, but because He strengthens your steps.
Endurance is not glamorous. Endurance is not loud. Endurance is not dramatic.
But endurance is holy.
It’s the miracle that shows up in the next step, and the next, and the next. It’s the quiet grace that keeps you from quitting. It’s the steady strength that carries you through the parts of life that don’t feel supernatural but absolutely require God.
Today, ask God for endurance strength.
Strength for the pace you’re running. Strength for the path you’re walking. Strength for the responsibilities that keep coming. Strength for the conversations you must have. Strength for the decisions you must make. Strength for the steps you still need to take.
Ask Him to steady your feet. Ask Him to strengthen your stride. Ask Him to keep you from fainting when the path feels long.
Because the God who lifts you like an eagle is the same God who keeps you moving when life stays on the ground.
And sometimes the greatest miracle is not the soaring… but the continuing.
